General Grades- Ballet, Jazz and Tap
Age recommendations are used as a guide and student allotment will be a joint decision with C.D.S and the student.
Junior SchoolMini Movers- Guardians to remain at the studio.
(Walking - 3 years of age) At this age we encourage the basic principles of dance; rhythm, timing and coordination. The class is a combination of Ballet and Jazz dancing. This class encourages students of all abilities to join. The Mini Movers class is fun, bright and energetic. Guardians may be required to actively participate in this class depending on their student. Students will be encouraged to dance without their guardian as we approach the concert, however, their guardian will remain on site for their class. Tiny Tots- Guardians may be required to stay on site. (3-4 years of age) At this age students have begun developing their basic principles of dance. The students develop balance, flexibility and performance skills. This class has an emphasis on concert performance. We continue to learn Ballet and Jazz, however, introduce Tap for this age group. Guardians may be required to remain on site for this lesson, however, generally are not actively involved in the class. |
Middle SchoolSub Juniors & Juniors
(4-7 years of age) Middle school students continue to work towards extending their dancing abilities. They now can approach more genres including Tap, Singing, Hip Hop and Acrobatics. Developing strength in the areas of flexibility, performance skills and coordination. These students begin to participate in a structured class that emphasises key dance skills. Examinations are encouraged in these age groups. Primary & PreInters (7-10 years of age) Class times are extended in these age groups to allow for greater learning as the students age. Students may choose to participate in private lessons for competitions or continue to take our recreational path with our scheduled classes on a Saturday morning. Examinations are taught in these classes and encouraged for these students. Some students join our weekday classes for additional lessons such as Hip Hop, Singing or Acrobatics. |
Senior SchoolInters
(10-13 years of age) Students at this level aim at further developing their dancing skills by establishing a strong performance ability. The class focuses greatly on completing examinations and extending dance skills. Students can also engage in our Pre-Pointe program as well as Contemporary classes. Ballet students will be asked to complete their Pre-Pointe assessment via our recommended physiotherapist. Seniors (14+) Senior students work towards extending their dancing abilities to reach their full potential. Students have the choice to work towards completing their examinations with Ballet and Jazz offering separate examination classes. In addition students will work towards maintaining their performance abilities. Many students also participate in our Student Teacher Program and actively participate in our Saturday morning classes. Adults (Open Age) This class is fun, relaxed and for the pure enjoyment of dance. We are happy to have adults join with little or no experience. This class aims at maintaining dance skills and enjoying the art. We do perform in our annual concert, however, this is of course an option for all adults. |
